Manuscripts and proofs of various scientific and autobiographical writings, especially realting to his projected calculating engines; rough notes and drawings on the same subject; some transcripts of correspondence, including with E. F. Bromhead and Sir John Herschel (but not original correspondence); printed pamphlets belonging to Babbage. The manuscript of H. W. Buxton's biography of Babbage (written in the 1870s, and published from this manuscript by MIT Press/Tomash Publishers in 1988) and related notes by Buxton are also included.
